LOUISVILLE, Ky. – As part of its planning process for the upcoming General Assembly, the General Assembly Council executive committee has drawn up a tentative list of "critical" committees to which it has assigned its members for "resourcing" duties.

The upcoming 218th General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (USA) will be held in San Jose, Calif., on June 21-28. These tentative GAC assignments would be in addition to the normal assignments of the executive committee members.

In speaking of the suggested additional committee assignments, the Rev. Allison Seed, chair of the GAC, said, "Some of these are going to be more critical and will need more resourcing than other committees."

Linda Valentine, executive director of the GAC, said, "Part of the reason that there be someone at these committees from the GAC, an elected member, is to have someone there who's familiar with those items and ready to speak to those items."

The Rev. Curtis Kearns, executive administrator, emphasized that the suggested committee assignments, which were provided to the members of the executive committee, were "open to preferences, to change."

The executive committee also approved a revised meeting schedule for the General Assembly Council.
