"Fearfully and Wonderfully Made": Health, Healing and Wholeness with Women of Faith

August 4-8, 1999
Dumas Bay Centre, Federal Way, Washington

This policy was developed in consultation with the Stated Clerk of the General Assembly, PC(U.S.A.)
  • The Open Meeting Policy adopted by the General Assembly in 1997 applies to all entities related to the General Assembly so that the work of the church may be done in a spirit of openness, trust and vulnerability to public scrutiny.
  • The two large group plenary sessions from 8:45-10:00 on Thursday and Friday mornings (August 5th and 6th) are educational in nature, intended to inform the whole church through the medium of open discussion. These sessions will be conducted according to the Open Meeting Policy. Press should remain in the area designated for press.
  • The purpose of reflection and dialogue in small groups is to provide opportunity for participants to share experiences, hopes and feelings without the stress of feeling that what they say may be broadcast. All activities beyond the 8:45 - 10:00 sessions on Thursday and Friday mornings are times in which the learning experience is specifically oriented to the personal and spiritual growth of the individual participants and are closed to non-members under the terms of the Open Meeting Policy.
  • Saturday morning's opportunities (August 7th) include a site visit to the Church of Mary Magdalene, a congregation of homeless women in downtown Seattle, Washington. Press and observers to the NNPCW Leadership Event must comply with the policies of the Church of Mary Magdalene. The NNPCW agreement with the Church of Mary Magdalene is that press and observers to the NNPCW Leadership Event will not accompany participants to the site visit.
  • The NNPCW Leadership Event is planned as an opportunity for young women to engage in worship, workshops, personal reflection, leadership training, exchange of ideas and personal stories. Participants come to the event with an understanding of the Leadership Event as a "safe place" to explore their faith with openness and compassion toward others. Interviews with student participants or facilitators must be requested through the NNPCW Planning Team.
  • Official press credentials must be presented upon registration. Press may register from 3:00-5:00 pm Aug. 4 or from 8:30-8:45 am Aug 5 and/or 6. Press representatives shall follow the Ethics and Standards of Professional Practice of the Associated Church Press. A Press badge must be worn at all times.
  • Press and Observers are expected to help maintain an atmosphere of openness and respect for the diversity of opinions that may be presented.
