Arbesman appointed vice moderator The Layman Online Monday, June 11, 2001 Moderator Jack Rogers, making his announcement to commissioners at a Monday morning breakfast, appointed as his vice moderator Janet Arbesman, who nominated him Saturday night. Rogers described Arbesman, a third-generation Japanese American, as "a person of deep commitment to the church and deep commitment to Jesus Christ." He noted that, last year, she took 60 people from Grand Canyon Presbytery to the General Assembly to see the assembly in action. Arbesman, a minister, is a member-at-large of Grand Canyon Presbytery and is active on the presbytery's Committee on Ministry.
