Commissioners elected Price Henderson Gwynn III, a Charlotte, NC elder, as moderator. Meeting in Salt Lake City, they also urged the U.S. to normalize relations with Fidel Castro's Cuba; allocated $1 million to address the problem of the African-American male; increased promotional and administrative expenses for the denomination's Bicentennial Fund; and rejected a study proposal to eliminate a deficit in the Board of Pensions medical fund. |
