Jack B. Rogers, moderator of the 213th General Assembly, has resigned from the board of the Covenant Network of Presbyterians, an organization that has led the effort to remove the "fidelity/chastity" ordination standard from the Book of Order.

Rogers has been a member of the Covenant Network's Board of Advisors since the organization was founded in August 1997. He resigned after he was elected moderator at the Louisville General Assembly.

According to the September 2001 Covenant Network newsletter, Rogers' resignation reflects "his strong commitment to serve the whole church."

Rogers, a former seminary professor, was one of the speakers at last year's Covenant Network conference on Biblical interpretation. The conference focused on methods used by seminary professors to refute texts that historically have been interpreted as injunctions against homosexual activity.
