Outreach Foundation calls for help with church roof project

(PLC) – One of the PCUSA’s validated ministries is asking Presbyterians to become “roofers.”

The Outreach Foundation wants to help African Christians in Mozambique and Malawi complete their churches, which lack costly roofs.

Thirty-three roofless churches built by congregations of bricks made from clay and dung stand as testament to the healing power of Jesus Christ in countries that have endured war and hardship.

During Mozambique’s bloody 17-year civil war, tens of thousands became refugees in Malawi, where Christians shared the love and hope of Jesus Christ with them. Now, as the refugees return to their communities, they are raising up churches.

Those churches need tin roofs, the only part of the buildings the Christians cannot make or buy themselves.

U.S. Presbyterians can help. For about $4,000 per roof, American Christians can become “roofers” for their African brothers and sisters in Christ. For more information about contributing to the Outreach Foundation’s mission project, call 1-800-791-5023.
