“What are your kids watching? Do you know the impact of their entertainment choices?” These are two questions, among many, answered in The Media Wise Family, a Christian family guide to making morally and spiritually responsible decisions about movies, TV and multimedia. Baehr heads the Christian Film & Television Commission, a non-profit organization committed to educating the entertainment industry and the public about the media’s impact. Baehr’s goal is to help parents teach their children “to develop discernment, wisdom, knowledge, and understanding about movies, television, electronic games and the all other media of entertainment and communication.”

The book is divided into three parts, “The Foundations of Discernment,” “The Keys to Discernment,” which includes age-based activities to teach children discernment and “Winning the Culture War.” With its mixture of scripture, statistics, examples from blockbuster movies, and quotes from well-known actors, The Media-Wise Family is interesting reading and gives Christian parents practical ways to teach their children discernment about the media.
