Two ministers elected The Presbyterian Layman Volume 34, Number 2 Posted March 26, 2001 LOUISVILLE, Ky. Jeffrey G. Bridgeman, a self-described evangelical, is the new chair of the General Assembly Council of the Presbyterian Church (USA). Bridgeman is pastor of Santa Ynez Valley Presbyterian Church, a 500-member congregation in Solvang, Calif. The new vice chair is Adelia Kelso, pastor of Northminster Presbyterian Church in Pearl River, La. The General Assembly Council elected Bridgeman and Kelso on second ballots on the final day of the councils week-long meeting in Louisville on June 18-24. Kelso was runnerup to Bridgeman on the first ballot for chair. During a brief interview with The Presbyterian Layman, Bridgeman said his aim as chairman is to build trust.
