When we proclaim Jesus Christ alone as the way, the truth and the life, we begin a lifelong study to further strengthen the building of our lives on that singular truth. That initial choice, and every choice thereafter, juxtaposes our spiritual life with our secular life – and that sometimes produces conflict.

book
In these situations, often we turn to the Permanent Things – our confessions, creeds, sermons, etc. – to help us more seamlessly make that connection and build on the foundation of a Biblical worldview. Those Permanent Things, just as they sustained faithful witnesses throughout the history of the Church, also can strengthen us and nurture our faith in troubled times.

Built around the Heidelberg Catechism, From Rebellion to Redemption provides a year-long Bible study on Paul’s epistle to the Romans to deepen and mature our relationship with God. But Randal Working goes further, supplementing that study with the work of a wide variety of Christian thinkers and writers – John Calvin, C.S. Lewis, Henri Nouwen and others – as well as Scripture readings, prayer and commentary.

Together, this arrangement examines core principles of belief while looking at Christianity’s universally timeless themes – and why they are important to our lives today.
