A Presbyterian lay leader is keeping Capitol Hill members of her denomination up-to-date on the views of those in the pews.
Carmen Fowler LaBerge, president of the Presbyterian Lay Committee, is in Washington, DC, for talks with Presbyterian members of Congress.
“I go to DC a couple of times a year,” she tells OneNewsNow. “We’ve got a number of Presbyterian members of Congress [who] are lay people. And so the Presbyterian Lay Committee is concerned about them and wants to be in communication with them.”
According to LaBerge, her organization’s role during these meetings is to convey the fact that not all Presbyterians agree with the liberal bent of some of the decisions and statements that come from denominational leaders.
