General Assembly Nominating Committee seeks applicants

LOUISVILLE, – The General Assembly Nominating Committee (GANC) is seeking recommendations of persons to fill 31 at-large vacancies on various Assembly-level committees.
The panel will present its slate of nominees for election by the 211th General Assembly in Fort Worth, Texas, June 19-26.
At-large vacancies will be filled on:
- the Board of Pensions
- the Committee for the Presbyterian Historical Society
- the Advisory Committee on Social Witness Policy
- the Committee on the Office of the General Assembly
- the Peacemaking Advisory Committee · the Presbyterian Hunger Program Advisory Committee
- the Presbyterian Committee on the Self-Development of People
- the Presbyterian Church (USA) Foundation
- the Committee on Theological Education
- the Advocacy Committee for Women’s Concerns
The nominating committee will be meeting this spring so GANC coordinator Valerie Small told the Presbyterian News Service persons interested in being considered for election this year should make their applications as soon as possible. All applications are kept in the GANC’s active file for three years. Nominators may recommend themselves or others.
The GANC is also seeking names of persons to serve on two new committees that are under consideration by the upcoming Assembly – the General Assembly Committee on Ecumenical Relations and the Advisory Committee on Churchwide Compensation. If approved, both committees will be elected by the Assembly.
The deadline for submitting prospective candidates for the new committees is May 1.
